could a man be nearer or dearer to my heart than the grouchiest old dissenter in the world? never! my favorite was when he was being interviewed (possibly by terry gross on npr??) and when asked how he was faring, he replied "i'm pissed off that i'm american, and i'm pissed off that i'm old."

what a genius.
